A current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates and/or appropriate military ratings, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the positions. NOTE:
You must submit documentation to provide proof of certification and/or rating, such as a copy of your commercial pilot certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate Certification and Ratings:
A current Commercial Pilot Certificate or the appropriate military rating. NOTE:
If establishing eligibility based on flight experience applicant must provide official orders, forms, or logbooks showing your status as a rated military pilot, flight instructor, or flight examiner, as appropriate. Minimum Flight Hour Requirements:
The following flight hour requirements apply to all applicants:
1500 Total Flight Hours; 250 Pilot-In-Command Hours; 75 Night Flying Hours; 75 flight hours of Instrument Time (at least 10 hours must be in actual instrument conditions); 500 Instructor Hours. NOTE:
You must submit proof of Flight Hours. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of aircraft systems and operating procedures, aerodynamics, flying fundamentals, aircraft instrumentation, ground and flight emergency procedures, instrument and visual flight rules, Formation, Basic Flight Maneuvers (BFM), Air Combat Maneuvers (ACM), Surface attack (SA), Surface Attack Tactics (SAT), and Low Altitude Operations; as well as knowledge of training aircraft, and of the operation, characteristics, and limitations of the corresponding aircraft simulator. 2. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources. 3. Knowledge of the Instructional Systems Development (ISD) process, requirements of fighter pilot training, and the pilot training syllabus. 4. Skill in the use of a variety of computer applications and software, to include simulator systems sufficient to meet desired learning objectives and to demonstrate flying procedures and maneuvers. 5. Skill in review and analysis techniques and methods to appraise assigned programs or projects; identify needs and solutions; develop goals, policies, and procedures; monitor progress; and evaluate success. 6. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing while using computer based teaching aides to include classroom instruction before large and small audiences. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
